Diane Chen

Diane Chen is Deputy Managing Director of Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited (HML), which is a professional private management and operating company providing day-to-day management for the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Diane is responsible for developing and implementation of business strategies to maximise venue utilisation and revenue, enhancing corporate branding and human resources development of HML. She is also a member of HML’s Executive Leadership Committee.

Before joining HML, Diane worked with Shenyang New World EXPO (Management) Limited (EXPO) during its pre-opening stage in 2012 and progressed through several senior leadership positions before being promoted to General Manager in 2016. During her 12 years at EXPO, Diane has exemplified leadership in her ability to train, nurture and energise a staff that has performed consistently with enthusiasm and responsiveness which has translated to unique value in the venue’s use by clients and attendees alike. Through her active participation in professional development programmes and implementation of international operating and management industry standards at EXPO, she has successfully positioned EXPO as a premier exhibition and meeting venue in China and earned EXPO global recognition and business opportunities. As EXPO’s representative, she served as the Vice-Chairman of Shenyang Exhibition Industry Association and regularly sat on the Experts Jury Panel for Shenyang Government’s large-scale event qualification of public financing. She also served as the board member of the European Chamber, Northeast Chapter.

As an active facilitator of the meeting and exhibition industry, Diane is currently Vice-Chair of Asia- Pacific Chapter of UFI – The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry for 2023-2026 and she was a member of the Board of Directors of UFI from 2020 to 2024. She is also a member of the Venue Management Association (Asia-Pacific) (VMA). Diane has been active in UFI for twelve years, supporting the exhibition industry association’s mission and driving its development in China and served as a regular instructor at UFI-VMA’s Public Venue Management School which is held annually in China. In 2021, she was awarded the designation of Certified Venue Executive (CVE) from International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM), being the first venue industry professional in China to receive the prestigious certification from the IAVM, among other 310 professionals who are the recipients of the CVE designation globally since 1976.
